Trace the vision of Le Corbusier, whose work changed the face of architecture, and see how his ideas still shape the way we live.

From Paris's Maison La Roche to the apartment blocks that started a worldwide movement, this tour moves through the buildings and ideas that defined twentieth-century design. Walk the jazz-age Rue Mallet-Stevens and the Parisian streets Le Corbusier wanted to demolish. Spend a night at his monastery at La Tourette, visit his own apartment in Boulogne, and explore the Marseille he helped reshape, with lunch inside the Unité d'Habitation.

The journey ends at Cap Moderne, where his tiny holiday cabin sits on a rocky slope beside Eileen Gray's Villa E-1027. Along the way, enjoy work by his peers, from Matisse's chapel to Cocteau's murals, and by his followers, like Tadao Ando at Château La Coste.

Divide your attention between art, architecture and appetite: lunch in the belle époque dining room of Le Train Bleu, a Lyon bouchon, Provençal wine and a farewell dinner on the Riviera. Bask in some of France's loveliest landscapes, from Parisian streets to the Côte d'Azur with its famous gardens and elegant villas.

A tour for anyone curious about how today's built environment evolved, set in the beauty and variety of France itself.

Travel in excellent company with tour leader Colin Bisset.
