About the tour

For every cliche about Japan, there is something that shatters your expectations, so that every visitor comes away with their own vision of this genuinely extraordinary land.

Modern Japan is a kaleidoscope of history and neon modernity, rigid tradition and explosive counter-culture, Zen serenity and heaving humanity. Learn how Japanese culture has adapted to rapid modernisation whilst still maintaining its cultural past. Experience the stylised rituals of Japan in the tea ceremony, visit the neon extravagances and chic areas of Tokyo, take the bullet train to a samurai town, visit traditional Japan in Osaka and Kyoto, the Peace Park in Hiroshima, cruise the inland sea and watch cars being made by robots in Nagoya, the creative heart of industrial Japan.

Along the way there will be a CPD programme of professional visits and talks.
