About the tour

This tour takes you on a journey through China’s history and culture, encompassing the ancient and the cutting edge of modernity. From the great imperial city of Beijing travel to the Silk Road city of Xi'an, home of the Terracotta Warriors and magnificent medieval city walls, before embarking on a cruise along the great Yangtze River, which has wound through some of China’s most stunning scenery as a major transport route for thousands of years. Travel onto cutting edge Shanghai with its beautiful art deco heart to finish the tour.

The tour will also examine dentistry in China. The visits include a dental teaching hospital in Beijing, a local dental clinic in XI’an and, by way of contrast, a traditional hospital to see how Chinese Medicine is used in dentistry and oral health care. There are also a number of CPD talks during the cruise.

There are also optional extensions after the tour - to beautiful Guilin and Yangshuo, or spectacular Shanghai, from where you can make day trips to ancient water towns such as Suzhou and Tongli.
